BRT Construction Sites through November 21st, 2018

The repaving of International Boulevard is underway! New blacktop is another exciting improvement of AC Transit’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project: a first-of-its-kind bus transit service beginning December 2019.

AC Transit is committed to providing the most accurate information for anyone seeking information along the 9.5-mile BRT corridor. Currently, construction crews are hard at work building BRT stations, installing new wheelchair accessible curb ramps, modern traffic signals, LED street lighting and more innovative improvements in the following neighborhoods.

New BRT buses are beginning to undergo testing at station platforms along International Boulevard / E. 14th Street. (10/25/18)

EASTLAKE — East 12th Street and International  Boulevard Between Lake Merritt Boulevard and 14th Avenue

  • Building new sidewalk or curb ramp
  • Removing old concrete
  • Underground utilities work
  • Installing traffic signal

SAN ANTONIO — International Boulevard Between 14th Avenue and 29th Avenue

  • Removing old concrete
  • Building new roadway
  • Building new sidewalk or curb ramp

  • Installing communications network
  • Installing traffic signal

FRUITVALE — International Boulevard Between 29th Avenue and 42nd/Seminary Avenue

  • Paving

HAVENSCOURT/LOCKWOOD/HEGENBERGER — International Boulevard Between Seminary Avenue and 73rd Avenue

  • Paving

ELMHURST — International Boulevard Between 73rd Avenue and Durant Avenue 

  • Removing old concrete
  • Paving
  • Building new sidewalk or curb ramp
  • Underground utilities work
  • Installing communications network

SAN LEANDRO — East 14th Street From Durant Avenue to San Leandro Boulevard

  • Building new roadway

Repaving is underway on International Boulevard! When complete, the community will enjoy nearly 10 miles of new, curb-to-curb pavement with a lifespan of up to 20 years! (11/5/18)

BRT is a $216 million investment in the community. BRT bus service mirrors the frequency, reliability and safety of light-rail train service without the high cost of building a rail line.
