Police Investigating Display of a Firearm Near Meadowdale High School
LYNNWOOD, WA (September 30, 2019) - At about 9:40 AM, police responded to Meadowdale High School (6002 168th ST SW) to investigate a display of a firearm. It was determined the display of the firearm occurred earlier in the morning at Meadowdale Neighborhood Park, which is located adjacent to the school. Police interviewed two individuals who were at the park when the incident took place. One of these individuals said the person who displayed the firearm made a threatening comment. A social media post also suggested a possible threat to the campus. Authorities conducted a search of the park and the campus but did not locate the individual purported to have displayed the firearm. Out of an abundance of caution, the high school was placed into lock-down for a brief period while authorities conducted these searches.
The school resource officer assigned to Meadowdale High School and detectives are working on identifying the individual who displayed the firearm as well as following up on the social media posts. If anyone has any additional information about this matter, please contact the Lynnwood Police Department (425) 670-5600.
