Press Release February 10, 2017:
Today at 1358 hours a 33 year old male inmate was found unresponsive just outside his cell at the Island County Jail from an apparent suicide attempt. The inmate attempted to hang himself while other inmates were out at visitation and was located when the cellmate returned (approximately 20 minutes later). 911 was called and the corrections staff immediately began CPR. The inmate was transported to Whidbey Health (Hospital) where he is being treated.
