MSRB Expands Online Toolkit for State and Local Governments
The MSRB added a number of key resources to its online "toolkit" of educational materials for state and local governments to help them improve their understanding of the municipal securities market. The additions to the toolkit include the EMMA® Trade Monitor, a new tool that enables state and local governments to export trade data from the Electronic Municipal Market Access (EMMA) website to a desktop application for analysis of secondary market bond trading activity.
MSRB's EMMA Website Spotlights 529 College Savings Plan Information
The MSRB has made it easier for families saving for future higher education expenses to find information about 529 college savings plans. A new interactive map accessible from the EMMA home page allows parents and others interested in learning about 529 college savings plans to more quickly and easily access this information by state.

Municipal New Issuance Volume Up from 2011
New municipal securities issuance volume totaled nearly $290 billion in the first eight months of 2012. The majority, or 66 percent, of new issues sold during that period were for $10 million or less. New issuance increased by 66 percent, from $175 billion in the same period last year.
