SCHOOL NEWS:
It was great to see you all on Back to School Night! We love partnering with you to meet the social emotional and academic needs of your children!
THANK YOU PARENTS: Thank you for your contributions of snacks for the PTA trail mix treat on Tuesday. Our teachers really appreciated it.
KISS AND RIDE: We ask that you not park on the school side of Barnack Dr. during arrival and dismissal. There are one or two new cars parked there everyday. Please help us keep our Kiss and Ride flowing as quickly as possible by not parking there.
POSITIVITY PROJECT: Next week we are exploring "Curiosity". Curiosity is a crucial component of one's character. Our innate urge for discovery and exploration is a key element of our human desire for wisdom and knowledge. It’s what keeps us intrigued in the plot lines of movies and books. It’s what pushes us to try new activities or travel to different places. All individuals experience curiosity, but differ in their willingness to experience it – behaviorally, intellectually, and emotionally. Ask your child about #otherpeoplematter this week and "Curiosity" next week.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU! We are looking for parents willing to share their career expertise as it might apply to student learning in the classroom. If you would be interested in helping with a lesson or project where we might use your knowledge/experience please complete the form below. We will contact you if we would like your support throughout the school year! Thank you so much! *If you know other family members with unique careers please feel free to send this survey to them! Even if they live far away they could potentially Skype into a class or be a point of contact!

Registration flyers on in the Friday folder. You can still run on race day, with out registering, but will not be guaranteed a shirt. Please bring four cans of food to benefit ECHO, a local food bank. If you have questions, please contact the Co-Chair Christopher Dean at chris.s.dean@gmail.com or 703-350-1403.

Volunteers Needed! When you register, please consider volunteering - this is a PTA led event so we are in need of volunteers! We are especially in need of parents who are able to help out from 8am - 12:00 on race day. We need help managing the race course, being a DJ, scoring the event, signing in volunteers and taking pictures of the event. Please contact Christopher Dean at chris.s.dean@gmail.com if you are able to help from 8-12:00 on race day.
Donations keep the event Free! When you register, please consider donating - this is a free event to your student but costs the local PTA's. Donations can be made via check to RVES PTA. Please contact Christopher Dean at chris.s.dean@gmail.com if you have any questions.
We would like to thank our supporters for making this event possible - Dr. David R. Hughes Orthodontics, Metro Run & Walk, In-House Printing, and your elementary school PTAs and participating families.
