SBA and Bethune-Cookman University signs Strategic Alliance Memorandum

Cassius Butts, Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, signed a Strategic Alliance Memorandum (SAM) with Bethune-Cookman University on February 14, 2013.
Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) is a Historically Black University that has been committed to academic excellence and civic engagement in the Daytona Beach community for over 100 years. Interim University President Dr. Edison O. Jackson signed the SAM on behalf of the University. Dr. Aubrey Long, Dean of the B-CU School of Business, Dr. Weldon Blake, B-CU Business Department Chair, and Wilfredo J. Gonzalez, North Florida District Director were all instrumental in coordinating the SAM. The event was attended by students, faculty members, and members of the media.

Emerging Leaders Initiative in Jacksonville
The North Florida District Office is currently accepting nominations for the 2013 Emerging Leaders Class, hosted in Jacksonville, FL. The program provides small business owners or chief executives with more than 70 hours of advanced management training. The program, based on the case study model used in many universities, has been a collaboration of the SBA North Florida District Office and prominent resources partners and local business executive leadership.
The Emerging Leaders advanced training series is open to:
• Small business owners and executives that have at least one employee besides the owner
• With annual revenues of at least $300,000
• Who have been in business for at least 3 years, and
• Located in the Jacksonville
Up to fifteen small businesses will be accepted for the 2013 North Florida District Office Emerging Leaders Initiative. This program is provided at NO COST to participants.
The North Florida District Office will hold an informational session on March 5, 2013 at 7825 Baymeadows Way, Suite 100-B, Jacksonville, FL, 32256 from 5:30PM to 7:30PM. Interested parties may also register for consideration into the program through http://www.interise.org/SBAe200. The 2013 Emerging Leaders class will begin on April 22, 2013 and will continue bi-weekly through October 28, 2013.
