Syracuse University, NYSTAR, SUNY ESF and OCC Team Up To Win Federal Grant for Advanced Manufacturing Over $1.8 million dollars was recently announced for a winning proposal in Syracuse as part of the nationwide Advanced Manufacturing Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge. The proposal was submitted collaboratively by Syracuse University, NYSTAR, the State University of New York’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Onondaga Community College.
Advanced Manufacturing Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge is a partnership between the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the National Science Foundation.
The challenge solicited proposals for economic development funds that strengthen advanced manufacturing at the local level. The awards will help regional clusters grow by strengthening their connections to regional economic development opportunities and advanced manufacturing assets, helping develop a skilled and diverse advanced manufacturing workforce, increasing exports, encouraging the development of small businesses, and accelerating innovation in technology.

 WISE Women's Business Center Moves To New Location
Due to the growth in programming and counseling services, the WISE Women’s Business Center has moved to its new larger location at The Tech Garden in downtown Syracuse. The WISE Women’s Business Center, one of more than 100 other SBA women’s business centers nationwide, features year-round training programs and free business counseling, targeting women entrepreneurs at various stages of entrepreneurial development. A presence in the downtown Syracuse area will allow the center to better serve its existing clients and to expand services to aspiring women entrepreneurs from across the Central New York region.
