Iowa Fluid Power of Cedar Rapids and Cafe Dodici of Washington Featured

Every business owner has a story, and today, the SBA launched a web page that gives successful entrepreneurs across the country an opportunity to tell theirs.  The site, “Small Business Owners Speak,” is an interactive platform featuring videos by small business owners who have started or grown a business with the help of the SBA.  The videos are featured at www.sba.gov/stories. The page has a map pinpointing the locations of the initial group of featured businesses.
Iowa Fluid Power, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is featured on the “Small Business Owners Speak” platform. In 1974, current Iowa Fluid Power CEO Don Kaas had been offered the chance to purchase the Iowa portion of the business where he was working. Despite exploring all conventional resources Don was still several thousands of dollars short. Don applied for a loan with the SBA. The application was accepted, and Don, with the SBA's assistance was able to cover the original purchase price, and also received some additional working capital. The full Iowa Fluid Power story can be found at http://www.sba.gov/stories/iowa-fluid-power.
Café Dodici, located in Washington, Iowa, is featured on the new platform. In 2004 Café Dodici received an SBA loan that was pivotal to renovating a compromised 19th century building on the Washington town square, which is now the home of the restaurant. This renovation encouraged the community to follow suit. The full Café Dodici story can be found at www.sba.gov/stories/cafe-dodici.
