Meet the North Dakota District Office | | Tom Linnertz, Business Opportunity Specialist
Tom has served as Liquidation and Loan Servicing Specialist for the SBA since 1989, and has been the 8(a) Program Manager and Business Opportunity Specialist (BOS) since 2001. As the BOS, Tom works with businesses interested in doing business with the federal government utilizing SBA’s Small Business Programs (8(a), HUBZone, Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB), Service |
Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Small Business Program. Tom has been recognized as Fargo Federal Employee of the year and as SBA Region 8 employee of the year. During his Liquidation and Loan Servicing period Tom worked with 12 other SBA personnel to recreate and train SBA employees and banks nationally on the Liquidation Program and policies recreated by that team. Prior to joining the SBA Tom was President of the Kenmare Community Credit Union in Kenmare, North Dakota and prior to that was Branch Manager for Midwest Federal Savings and Loan of Minot. Tom has worked in the retail and residential contruction trades. Tom served in the Marine Corps from 1971 to 1973 and retired in 1997 from the US Army Reserve as a Master Sergeant Tom regularly volunteers his time to play Taps for veteran's funerals in the region and has been a volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for over 30 years. He is active in his church, sings in the choir and plays trumpet, which is he says is only due to desperation in the church. In his free time, he enjoys fixing clocks, hunting, camping, building furniture and recently has shown his hand as a home brewmeister.
