Unhealthy
behaviors like smoking, texting while driving, and not
wearing a seatbelt or bike helmet can put you at unnecessary risk. Try these
tips to avoid unhealthy behaviors so you can lead a longer and healthier life:
Drive
safely. Next time you’re driving, be sure to buckle up, and keep
yourself and others on the road safe by not texting. Put your phone away to cut
back on distractions. If you need to call or text, pull over at a safe location
to do so.
Quit
smoking. If you’re one of the 19.7 million women who smoke, learn about the resources available to help you quit.
Practice safe sex. Protect yourself and your partner(s) by practicing safe sex. To
reduce your risk of sexually transmitted diseases, you can choose not to have sex, use condoms correctly and every time
you have sex, reduce your number of sex partners, be in a mutually monogamous
relationship (i.e., you and your partner only have sex with each other), and/or
get vaccinated to prevent Hepatitis
B and HPV.
