Pay attention to your mental health!
Did you know
that mental health is a key component of your overall health? For day five of National Women’s Health Week, we’re
encouraging you to pay attention to your mental health today and
every day.
Good mental
health helps you enjoy life and cope with problems. Just as you keep your body
healthy, you can take steps to keep your mind healthy, too. For example, eating
right and exercise can help maintain good mental health. Managing stress and
getting plenty of sleep is also important.
Try to stress
less this week by taking time for you. Take a walk, call a friend, get a
massage, take a deep breath when things get tough, or relax in a bubble bath.
No matter what you choose to do, just remember it’s important to always make
time for you.
Even if you
take care of your body and mind, mental illness can still happen. There is help available if
you or someone you love need it. The National Mental
Health Information Center can
help you locate mental health services near you.The Office on Women’s Health also
offers a free publication called Women’s Mental Health: What it means to you, which gives
suggestions for support and solutions for preventing and coping with mental
illness.
