What's Happening Around MEP

Market Development Cooperator Program Funding Opportunity

The International Trade Administration this week has announced a Market Development Cooperator Program funding opportunity. Approximately $2,000,000 is expected to be available through this announcement for fiscal year 2013. The total number of awards made will depend on the amounts requested by top-scoring applicants and the availability of funds. No award will exceed $300,000. ITA anticipates concluding seven (7) to ten (10) cooperative agreements. Applications are due by February 28, 2012.

Market Development Cooperator Program (MDCP) financial assistance awards help to underwrite the start-up costs of new foreign market development projects that industry organizations are often reluctant to undertake without federal government support. MDCP projects strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. industry by generating exports of nonagricultural goods and services produced in the United States. Trade associations, state departments of trade and other regional associations, and other non-profit industry organizations are eligible to apply for MDCP awards. This includes MEP Centers which can use these funds to assist their manufacturing clients with exporting activities particularly into emerging markets around the globe.

For more information and application requirements, visits the grants.gov announcement page. For questions contact Heidi Sheppard (Heidi.sheppard@nist.gov | 301-975-6975.

Can the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation revitalize U.S. Manufacturing?
Innovation may be a hot buzzword right now, but it is also an established tool for making manufacturers more competitive.
