Health Advisory – Multi-state Meningitis Outbreak

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is coordinating a multistate investigation of meningitis among patients who received a steroid injection (medication injected into the spine or other joints). Some medications used in these treatments have been linked to 35 cases of fungal meningitis, including five deaths, across the United States.

Any beneficiaries who have had a steroid injection since July 1, 2012 at a facility in one of 23 states identified by the CDC should check the info page at www.tricare.mil/healthadvisory for more.
