Job Summary:
This position has potential conversion from the Pathways Student Intern may be further converted to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service. The employee may be promoted to a higher grade level while in the Pathways Intern Program and up to the full promotion level upon/after conversion. As a Student Intern, you will be working independently or as a team member performing productive assignments of limited difficulty with the objective of accomplishing training while assisting in the substantive work of the functional area. Work assignments are designed to permit the knowledge acquired through education and training to be applied to particular work situations. This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The office provides policy leadership in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial management. This Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. Students may be promoted up to the GS-11 level while in the Intern program, and students who successfully complete the program may be eligible for conversion to a permanent job in the civil service, up to grade GS-12 depending on the requirements of the position.
