Job Summary:
This position is located in the Branch of Medical Standards and Rehabilitation (BMSR), Division of Planning, Policy and Standards (DPPS), Office of Workers' Compensation Programs (OWCP). Functions assigned to the Branch include the development of medical standards for adjudication and management of compensation claims submitted to the programs administered by the OWCP. The Branch is responsible for insuring that such standards are medically sound and consistent with OWCP policy. Additionally, the branch is responsible for reviewing and recommending changes to CPT/HCPCS/RCC codes as they affect the medical aspect the OWCP programs. The position is that of a Workers' Compnesation Specialist. The incumbemt is responsible for overseeing the appropriate application of medical coding in BMSRs Central Bill Processing (CBP) system. This includes monitoring appropriate professional agencies for periodic changes and announcements of proposed changes to the coding systems around which the CBP system operates.
