Job Summary:
This position is located in the Department of Labor, Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) Los Angeles Regional Office, Pasadena, CA. The mission of EBSA is to ensure the security of the retirement, health and other workplace related benefits of American workers and their families. Each Office initiates, executes, and coordinates civil and criminal investigations of alleged violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and conducts financial investigations of all types of employee benefit plans. The security of retirement funds and the availability of employer-sponsored healh care are matters of widespread concern to American workers today. The Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) is committed to educating and assisting the 150 million Americans covered by more than 708,000 private retirement plans, 2.8 million health plans, and similar numbers of other welfare benefit plans holding over $5 trillion in assets; as well as plan sponsors and members of the employee benefits community. EBSA balances proactive enforcement with compliance assistance and works diligently to provide quality assistance to plan participants and beneficiaries. It is the policy of EBSA to provide the highest quality of service to its customers. This position is located in EBSA's Los Angeles Regional Office, Pasadena, CA. EBSA is responsible for administering provisions of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 (COBRA), the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), the Newborns' and Mothers' Health Protection Act of 1996, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998, the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act (GINA), Michelle's law, and related regulations. This position is outside the bargaining unit. GS-15 is the full performance level. At least one (1) position may be filled. These positions are located with the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, Division of Price Programs, Consumer Price Branch, Mountainside, NJ. KIND OF APPOINTMENT: THIS IS A PERMANENT PART-TIME POSITION 16-32 HOURS. The initial average hours per week will be 24 hours and may fluctuate based on workload and training requirements.
