Job Summary:
Positions are located in various offices within the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), Office of Employment and Unemployment Statistics. Mathematical Statisticians at BLS perform work involving the development and adaptation of mathematical statistical theory and methodology for a wide variety of statistical investigations. They investigate and evaluate the applicability, efficiency, and accuracy of the theory and methods used by subject-matter specialists or other statisticians in various statistical programs and studies. The Bureau of Labor Statistics is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal Government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other Federal agencies, State and local governments, business and labor. BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the DOL. The positions have promotion potential to the GS-12 level. The positions are inside the bargaining unit. Job Summary:
These four positions are located in the Employment and Training Administration. One position will be located in the Office of Management and Administrative Services, Office of Grants Management (OGM), Division of Policy Review and Resolution. OGM provides leadership, guidance, and direction for systems and services that support grant management. The other positions will be located in the Office of Workforce Investment (OWI). OWI is responsible for providing national leadership, oversight, policy guidance, and technical assistance to the Workforce system and employment and training programs. OWI also promotes the development and implementation of innovative workforce development models, workforce education strategies, and integrated workforce solutions through the Workforce Innovation Fund. Within OWI, one position will be located in the Division of WIA Adult Services and Workforce Systems serving in the Adult Policy Unit. Two of OWIs positions will be located in the Division of Youth Services. One position will be in the Reintegration of Ex-Offenders Unit (ReXO), which implements initiatives designed to strengthen communities and reduce recidivism by helping former inmates find work. One position will be in the YouthBuild Unit, working with programs that assist low-income young people ages 16 to 24 work full-time for 6 to 24 months toward their GEDs or high school diplomas while learning job skills. Placement in either OGM or OWI will be based on the candidates skill-set and Managements discretion.
