As Air Force Space Command approaches its 30th Anniversary on 1 Sep, here is a significant milestone from the command's history...

On 4 May 2009, the Air Force Frequency Management Agency was realigned under AFSPC. Known today as the Air Force Spectrum Management Office and located in Alexandria, Va., this unit continues to be the focal point for military frequency
requirements in times of contingencies, natural disasters and daily operational support.

Spectrum is a vital national resource, critical to the success of any military operation and sustained access to it is essential. The AFSMO mission is to plan, provide and preserve access to the radio frequency spectrum for the Air Force and selected Department of Defense activities in support of national policy objectives, systems development and global operations.
