General Officer Assignments

            The chief of staff, Air Force, announced today the following assignments: 

            Brig. Gen. Mark C. Nowland, who has been selected for the grade of major general, director, strategy, policy, and plans, Headquarters U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Fla., to chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Fla. 

            Brig. Gen. Christopher J. Bence, deputy director for operations, National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, Operations Team Two, J-3, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to director, U.S. Air Forces in Europe-United Kingdom, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Royal Air Force Mildenhall, United Kingdom. 

            Brig. Gen. Lawrence M. Martin Jr., vice commander, 618th Air and Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., to director, regional affairs, Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, International Affairs, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Ronald D. Buckley, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, chief, Senate Liaison Office, Office of the Legislative Liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to deputy director for operations, National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center, Operations Team Two, J-3, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
