General Officer Announcement Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination: Air Force Lt. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke III for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as director, Air National Guard, National Guard Bureau, Arlington, Va. Clarke is currently serving as commander, First Air Force (Air Force North), and commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.
