Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, speaks at the USO of North Carolina's 8th annual Salute to Freedom Gala in Raleigh, N.C., Oct. 27, 2012. The gala honored six service members stationed or deployed from North Carolina, as well as two outstanding North Carolina community members.
