"At the National Weather Service Birmingham office, everyone knew the stakes on April 27th, 2011. We were focused and driven to put out the best warning and additional information to everyone. As the third wave unfolded and it became apparent that multiple tornadoes were on the ground and people were dying because of them, some of the staff were overwhelmed with emotion and needed to be relieved for a few minutes to regain composure. And, they did. We became even more focused until the entire event ended."

- Jim Stefkovich, of the US National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama, recounts the tornado outbreaks of April 27, 2011 and how the Weather Service worked to alert the public of the severe weather threat: http://go.usa.gov/2DAj.
