USDA Animal Care: Ensuring the welfare of the animals we regulate is at the heart of everything we do. Animal Care has a unique externship program for motivated college students across the country who want to gain valuable work experience. Opportunities include: • shadowing veterinary medical officers and other Animal Care personnel • developing policies • engaging stakeholders These opportunities fall into organizational areas as varied as: • enforcement • administrative support • resource management • compliance inspections • information technology • nonclinical veterinary care • emergency programs Externship opportunities are available on a rolling basis, and we will consider applications submitted at any time.
