USDA Animal Care:

Ensuring the welfare of the animals we regulate is at the heart of everything we do.

Animal Care has a unique externship program for motivated college students across the country who want to gain valuable work experience. Opportunities include:

developing policies

engaging stakeholders

These opportunities fall into organizational areas as varied as:

• enforcement

• administrative support

• compliance inspections

• information technology

• nonclinical veterinary care

• emergency programs

Externship opportunities are available on a rolling basis, and we will consider applications submitted at any time. However, if you want to participate at a particular time, the key deadlines are:

July 1 for fall externships

December 2 for spring externships

April 1 for summer externships
