NOTICE: Interim Final Rule CWD Herd Certification Program and Interstate Movement of Farmed or Captive Deer, Elk, and Moose

APHIS Veterinary Services is amending a final rule that will establish a voluntary national herd certification program (HCP) to control chronic wasting disease (CWD) in farmed or captive cervids that includes consistent minimum standards for participating approved states, and minimum requirements for interstate movement of cervids.  Under this rule, owners of deer, elk, and moose herds who choose to participate in an Approved State CWD HCP would follow requirements for animal identification, testing, herd management and interstate movement of animals into and from herds. The interim final rule was published in the Federal Register last week and is available for review and public comment at:
