SAVE THE DATE: April 12, 2013, 8:30–10:30 a.m. U.S. Launch of the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) Global Action Plan on Pneumonia and Diarrhea (GAPP-D) in Washington, D.C. Co-hosted by: U.S. Agency for International Development, UNICEF, PATH, and Save the Children Pneumonia and diarrhea are two of the leading causes of death for children under 5 and are responsible for nearly one-third of these deaths. As the global health community aggressively pushes to holistically address child mortality under A Promise Renewed, WHO’s GAPP-D looks to coordinate and integrate efforts around pneumonia and diarrhea. In addition, The Lancet is launching a series of four papers, all of which have informed the development of GAPP-D. During this event, authors of each paper will provide a brief synopsis, and there will be an overview of GAPP-D and how it fits into A Promise Renewed efforts. Formal program and invitations to follow.
