World Contraception Day is a global campaign celebrated annually to draw attention to the growing need for access to contraceptive information and services. Enabling couples to determine whether, when, and how often to have children has profound health, economic, and social benefits for families and communities. USAID works in more than 45 countries to develop strategies that ensure that quality commodities and a wide range of method choices are accessible to even those living in the most remote areas.

Today USAID joined with other donors in announcing a new public-private partnership that will make Jadelle, a safe, effective, long-acting, reversible method of contraception, available to millions of women. Under this partnership, Bayer HealthCare AG will make this product available at a greatly reduced price. This represents a major step forward in making this life-saving product more accessible, empowering millions of women with the ability to make decisions about their health and family.
