(What’s the story) This Morning glory: West Sussex pupils perform in front of millions

Pupils from Oak Primary in Crawley were given a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play to millions of people on ITVs This Morning in December. The school was chosen from thousands of others in the UK to sing Christmas carols alongside presenters Phillip Schofield and Ruth Langsford.

Thousands to sing Music Service tutor's new song

A song written by a teacher from the West Sussex Music Service will be sung by thousands of school children next month. Emily Barden, Curriculum Leader for Voice and Choirs, was picked from hundreds after composing ‘Can you hear my voice?’ for National Sing Up Day. The countywide event, being held on March 14, aims to get children into music by learning in schools.

Sing for spring - says outbound Head of Music Service

As we enter springtime we are looking forward to a number of really exciting events. On March 16 we are holding three concerts at the K2 Theatre in Crawley, featuring performers from our Music Centres and county bands. It promises to be another fantastic event showcasing how far the students have come in their musical careers and we hope to see you there.

Budding musicians to showcase talents at day-long concert – tickets available.

Hundreds of adults and children learning with the Music Service will be showcasing their talents at a whole-day concert this month. It is part of this year’s Festival Of Music which is being held in Crawley’s K2 Leisure Centre on Saturday March 16. More than 200 budding singers and players will be performing in choirs, classical groups and rock bands at three separate concerts - which start at 11am, 2:30pm and 7:00pm.

Trumpet for sale

Seeing double: Music Service brothers win top awards at West Sussex festival

Two young brothers learning with the Music Service were awarded top prizes at a West Sussex festival in November. Govinda and Rama Suphadet, aged ten and eleven, were each given silver-plated trophies at the Mid Sussex Competitive Music Festival for their woodwind and string performances. The boys, pictured, both attend Warden Park School in Cuckfield where they are tutored by Fiona Norden.

The West Sussex Music Service’s website has been given a face-lift to make it easier for you to get around. Although the layout still looks the same, computer experts have been working in the background to bring you the latest breaking news and the best deals currently being offered. Young performers ignite atmosphere at firefighters’ Christmas concert

Youngsters from the Music Service went out in a blaze of glory after entertaining West Sussex’s firefighters at a Christmas concert. Children from the County Youth String Chamber performed a number of well-known carols at Chichester Cathedral on December 18. The ensemble is made up of leading string players from the County Youth Orchestra.

Crawley customers catch choir’s Christmas carols

Crawley shoppers looking for last-minute presents in December were given a bit of festive spirit from one Music Service group. Singers from the Milton Mount Community Choir sang Christmas classics to hundreds of people in the town’s County Mall on December 17. The group, which was only formed in September 2011, has more than 40 adult and young singers.
