Winter weather gritting (no logo)
How does gritting work?

Gritting in the city tonight

Weather prediction: Cloudy this afternoon with outbreaks of rain, this becoming locally persistent at times. The rain will continue into the early evening, although clearing from the north and west as the evening progresses. Some of the rain may begin to turn to snow over high ground and possibly more localised as the colder air meets the rear end of the weather front. Skies clearing from the west later in the night will give a risk of ice in places. Dry through the morning with sunny spells

So we will be gritting the roads described in the city council’s winter gritting policy: firstly is there are indications of snow fall and secondly as the band of rain stars to clear as a prevention to ice forming

You can see where we grit on the roadworks.org map by selecting map layers > driver information > winter gritting routes and zoom in to see the roads you are interested in.

How does the council make the decision to grit the roads?

How do I get my grit bin refilled? What's the best way to remove snow from the street? Who grits the A50 and A500?
