Survey to Assess State's Readiness for PARCC Assessments

The following information was sent to District Superintendents last week. This is a reminder of important deadlines.

The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) have contracted with Pearson to develop a Technology Readiness Tool to support states’ planning as they transition to online assessments to be launched beginning in 2014. There are several important survey collection windows to help determining Oklahoma’s “readiness” for the online PARCC assessments.

When taking advantage of these collection windows, please know it is of critical importance to the overall Common Core Standards initiative that all data submitted be of the highest accuracy. If initial input is not accurate then final data to districts, the state and consortia will not be accurate.

  • Friday, June 14, 2013
  • Friday, December 13, 2013
  • Friday, June 13, 2014
  • Monday, August 18, 2014

The current collection window will run through Friday, February 15, 2013. It is important that all schools complete and or update data in advance of the submission date.  The data provided from your district will help influence the transition to consortia assessment systems. Please make every attempt to meet these deadlines.  Your data can be updated at the Tech Readiness Tool’s website: http://www.techreadiness.net

The state of “readiness” is continually changing, both as district and school infrastructures continue to be built and upgraded, and the assessment design is solidified.  Measures of readiness will ultimately be derived from data captured at the school level and rolled up in reports to districts, state, and consortia by the TRT and ultimately provide recommendations on technology purchases to support the implementation of the Common Core Standards.

Please note: If you are not the one responsible for completing this survey within your district, please forward this newsletter to the appropriate person(s).
