Budget Request Update

During these final days of the Legislative session, State Department of Education staff members are continuing to work with House and Senate leadership on the budget request approved by the State Board of Education in December. They have asked for an increase in funding from fiscal year 2012, We urge you to contact your lawmakers to advocate for this budget request on behalf of all students in the state.

TLE Training Update

As you are aware, the SDE has posted a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the TLE training.  This bidding process will close on May 24, 2012.  Once the SDE awards the training bids, a training schedule will be finalized.  The training schedule will be based on the information provided to the SDE through the TLE Selection Survey. While we encourage districts to attend training as a group, there will be flexibility in the training schedule.  This means that there will be multiple training opportunities throughout the summer and throughout the state to ensure that all administrators are trained, assessed, and certified as evaluators prior to the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.  In addition, the SDE plans to hold a training session early in the fall to accommodate any newly hired administrator or those administrators who were unable to participate in the training during the summer.  If you have any further questions, please contact Alicia Currin-Moore at 405-522-0282 or Alicia.Currin-Moore@sde.ok.gov

During Teacher Appreciation Week, May 7-11, we asked people to tell us about their favorite teachers. We've collected the responses and posted them to our Website. Take a look. And, if you see the name of one of your teachers, make sure to share this link with them.
