WOODWARD – Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak joined Governor Mary Fallin, Senator Bryce Marlatt and Albert Ashwood, Director of Emergency Management, in a press conference Sunday afternoon following a tour of Woodward County’s tornado damaged areas.

“I would like to thank the Governor for her support of the Woodward citizens during their time of need,” said Doak, who was accompanied by former Senator Owen Laughlin who served the people of the Woodward area for 12-years in the state Senate and is now serving as Special Counsel for the Commissioner.

“I know that this event has been life-altering for the people of this community but I also want everyone to know that the Oklahoma Insurance Department will be here to help put people’s lives back together,” said Doak.

Commissioner Doak also took the time to caution those in attendance that frauds and scams are often prevalent following natural disasters like what occurred in Woodward this weekend.

“The Oklahoma Insurance Department takes insurance fraud seriously, especially exploitation of the elderly, and I would strongly recommend all homeowners to be cautious of unknown home repair crews,” said Doak.
