OKLAHOMA CITYCommissioner John Doak wants every Oklahoma citizen to be aware of OID’s Prepare Yourself initiative, especially due to the extreme weather expected this weekend.

“The National Weather Service has declared a high-risk warning for much of Oklahoma and I advise everyone to take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their family and property during this severe weather warning,” said Doak.

To help and educate citizens, the Oklahoma Insurance Department has taken steps to ensure that Oklahomans have the necessary resources to prepare for the natural disasters that inevitably affect our state.

For more information on how you can prepare your family and property for severe weather please visit the OID’s website at http://www.ok.gov/oid/Consumers/Prepare_Yourself/index.html

The Prepare Yourself initiative is dedicated to informing citizens about insurance and preparedness tips for Tornadoes/Severe Weather, Winter Weather, Wildfires, Earthquakes and Floodwaters.

Another resource offered through OID’s website is our new mobile phone App. This App allows consumers the ability to download a home inventory program, create inventories of their possessions through photographs, and assess estimated prices on those items in case of damage.

“The Prepare Yourself initiative was rolled out during OID’s recent Tornado Preparedness Summit, and I urge everyone to use these resources to ensure their families are prepared for severe weather and that their insurance needs are being met,” said Doak.
