Crews Ramping Up Paving Project On S.R. 104, S.R. 335
Chillicothe (Friday, July 12, 2019) – As part of a resurfacing project on S.R. 104 and S.R. 335 in Pike County, intermittent, single-lane restrictions and temporary periods of closure will be in effect next week on both routes for grading, milling and paving.
Beginning Monday, July 15, and continuing through Friday, July 19, crews from the Shelly Company will be paving S.R. 104 between Forrest Hills Drive and U.S. 23 at Waverly. The route will be subject to single-lane closures in the work zone, and traffic will be maintained by flaggers. In addition, southbound U.S. 23 will be reduced to one lane at the junction with S.R. 104, with the driving lane of U.S. 23 closed to traffic.
The contractor will also be paving S.R. 335 from the Scioto County line through the village of Beaver and between the intersecting points of T.R. 528 (Dutch Hollow Road). Although traffic will be maintained in one lane by flaggers, motorists may encounter delay, as the route will be subject to periods of temporary, short-term closure.
The total project also includes paving at Ross Lake, Pike Forest and Scioto Trail state parks, and a separate crew will be paving parking lots and access roads at these parks next week.
On Monday, July 15, West Hydel Road and the parking lots on the west side of Ross Lake will be closed during daytime hours, and the following day, July 16, crews will close the east side parking lot and access road at Ross Lake to pave there.
Then Wednesday through Friday, July 17-19, crews will be paving the maintenance garage parking lot at Scioto and parking lots at Pike Lake; however, there should be little impact to traffic in either park.
All work is weather permitting.
The Shelly Company was awarded a contract for approximately $2.3 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed by late summer.
