Council Commits $1,000 to Beautify Emerging Spaces Together Project
On July 17, the Raleigh City Council authorized $1,000 for Beautifying Emerging Spaces Together’s next art project. The volunteer-based group transforms empty storefronts with artistic displays. The group’s next project will be the Dillon Supply Building storefront on West Street, which is owned by the Triangle Transit Authority.
Previous efforts by the group include the Old Raleigh Sandwich Shop at 215 S. Wilmington Street, 305 S. Wilmington Street, and Suite 50 of The Hue on Dawson Street.
According to Jason Craghead of the Raleigh Arts Commission, the imagery will all be transit-themed and reflect the building’s future use in regional transportation needs. The art project installation is expected to be complete by the fall.
