Raleigh Maintains Lowest Municipal Services Costs
The new fiscal year that began July 1, keeps alive the very proud Capital City tradition of providing the best municipal services for the lowest costs. Municipal costs are: annual property taxes, solid waste fees, water and sewer charges, and storm water fees. Raleigh’s annual average is $1,487.06.
The property tax is based on a single-family residential unit valued at $188,755. Annual water and sewer charges are based on use of 4,500 gallons or six CCF per month.
The average annual municipal costs for the 11 other municipalities in Wake County is $1,710.76. That is $223.70 or more than 13 percent higher than the Raleigh annual average.
The average for the non Wake areas of the Triangle is $1,869.84 or $382.78 more than Raleigh’s costs. That comes to 20.5 percent greater than Raleigh’s average.
The average annual municipal costs for the state’s other largest cities is $1,590.06 or $103.00 above Raleigh’s average. That is 6.5 percent higher.
