Parks & Gardens strives to maintain and operate parks and facilities that enrich the lives of the community and promote an overall healthier lifestyle.

New Hanover County Parks & Gardens staff would like to wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday Season and we look forward to great things to come in 2017!

Holiday Hours
-Parks & Gardens Office: Closed Dec 23-27 & Jan 1
-Airlie Gardens: Closed Dec 24-25 & Jan 1
-Executive Development Center: Closed Dec 23-27 & Jan 1
-All County Parks will close at 5pm on Dec 24th and all day Dec 25th

County Parks and Airlie Gardens will resume regular operating hours on Monday, December 26th.

Enchanted Airlie
There are still some tickets left for Enchanted Airlie, but they are selling fast! Get yours today at airliegardens.org.

-Two run-times per evening: 5-7pm or 7-9pm

Splashpad at Hugh MacRae Park- Opening April 2017

We are excited to announce that construction is complete on the new splashpad at Hugh MacRae Park! While the splashpad won't be open to the public until Spring, our staff will spend the next few months working to get everything just right for "The Big Splash" coming in April. More details to come...

Smith Creek Park Boat Launch

We've made it easier for you to access the lake at Smith Creek Park! Now you can drive your vehicle down closer to the boat launch to unload your kayak, stand up paddleboard or other non-motorized watercraft (no gas powered engines). Catch-and-release fishing is also allowed at Smith Creek Park with a valid fishing license. The park is located at 633 Shenandoah Street, just off Harris Road.

Your Voice Matters! Take the NHC Citizen Survey

New Hanover County is looking for feedback from citizens to help shape the county's plans and policies for the future. This statistically-valid survey is conducted every two years and is designed to measure citizen's satisfaction and to gather input about issues facing the community. Take the online survey at SurveyNHC.com now through December 12th.

Volunteer Workday at Veterans Park/Ashley High

If you're looking for an opportunity to give back to the community and don't mind getting your hands dirty, then come out to Ashley High School on Thurs, Dec 22nd from 8:30am-noon for our landscape beautification workday! Tools will be provided. Ashley is located at 555 Halyburton Memorial Pkwy in the southern part of the county. Contact Andy Johnson for more information.

Construction Updates

Ogden Skatepark: The dirt is being delivered the first week in December for the Tony Hawk bowl and crews will be completing the street course over the next few weeks. We will begin installing the landscaping and irrigation in late December/early January. We are expecting to complete the project in mid-January. Follow the Ogden Skatepark facebook page for updates!

Northern Regional Park: A full-size basketball court has been added to Northern Regional Park in Castle Hayne!
