Taxpayers who filed electronically using Intuit products (TurboTax, Lacerte, Intuit online, ProSeries) should be aware of a problem. If you chose to help candidates for state office pay campaign expenses, you are affected. Intuit did not accurately communicate information to the Minnesota Department of Revenue about your choice. Intuit is working to correct this issue and affected taxpayers do not need to do anything.
Taxpayers who filed a property tax refund on paper using Intuit have the same issue. Intuit is unable to identify taxpayers who file by paper. We do not know what Intuit’s plans are to address this issue.
The Department of Revenue is not affiliated with Intuit, and we find these errors unacceptable. We are doing everything we can on behalf of Minnesota taxpayers. We will continue to monitor the situation closely. TurboTax has indicated they will be communicating directly with their customers. In the meantime, concerned taxpayers should contact Intuit directly at 1-866-888-4609.
