  • Final Redistricting Plan Approved
The Board unanimously approved the final redistricting plan for county commissioner districts.  Districts 5, 6, and 7 are already on the ballot for this fall because of expiration of terms.  Due to variations in population of at least five percent, districts 1 and 2 will also require elections. This means five of the seven districts will be on the ballot this fall.  All Hennepin County residents will receive a postcard in July showing the new district boundaries and designated polling places.  Click here for details and here for a map of the new boundaries.

The Sixth District added population and now includes all of Orono, Spring Park and precincts two and four of Mound.

  • Funding to Seal Abandoned Wells Received
The Board approved an agreement with the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources and accepted a $42,000 Clean Water Fund grant to be used to seal abandoned or unused wells. BOARD BRIEFINGS

In addition to our regularly scheduled board meetings, the board often meets on Thursday mornings to receive "Board Briefings."  These are informal opportunities to discuss emerging issues.  No decisions are made.  Board Briefings occur in the Boardroom on the 24th floor of the Hennepin County Government Center and are open to the public.

April 19, 2012

The Board was briefed on two topics:
  • Staff presented information on internet technology, particularly as it relates to county web services and efforts to update the county website.
  • Staff also presented information relating to the Northwest Family Services Center and updated the Board on the status of the development of additional regional human services sites.  The Northwest Family Services Center is being constructed in Brooklyn Center in partnership with the Osseo School District and the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP).  Its design includes flexible work space components in support of the county's Results Oriented Work Environment.  Construction is expected to be completed this fall.
