Latino and Somali Informational Fairs

Learn more about what’s available in your community

Human Services will host resource fairs on Saturday, October 29 at Civic Plaza. This free event will provide Bloomington residents with an opportunity to connect with supports and services in the community. There will be a variety of state and local government agencies along with non-profit organizations sharing information about their organizations, available services and programs. 
The Latino Fair will be held from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and the Somali Fair will be held from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. 

4th Annual Veterans Photo Wall

Photos of Veterans
Human Services is seeking photos of veterans for its 2011 Veterans Photo Wall. Bring a photo of yourself or a loved one along with the individual's name, rank, and years of service to Human Services at Creekside or Civic Plaza for submission to the collection. Staff will make a scanned copy of your photo and will return the original to you.
Electronic photos may also be submitted by email to 
There will be a photo wall display at Creekside during the entire month of November. The photo wall began in 2003 and has grown to include over 250 photos of veterans, featuring men and women from all branches of service as far back as World War I.

Celebrate Thanksgiving

Human Services invites you to join them at Creekside in celebrating Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 17 at 11:30 a.m. Enjoy a traditional meal complete with turkey and all the trimmings. Enjoy listening to the music of the Mouldy Figs and then try your luck at Turkey Bingo for chance to win great prizes.

Reservations are required. Meal cost is a suggested contribution of 0-$3 for guests 60+ (NAPIS form required) and $6 for guests under 60. Creekside Boutique Holiday Hours

Homemade bears
Starting Tuesday, November 1 thru Saturday, December 17 the Creekside Boutique will be open special holiday hours. Stop by room 104, Monday-Friday 10 a.m. - 2:45 p.m., Tuesday 6 - 8 p.m., and Saturday 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Items available include:
  • Scarves, mittens, slippers
  • Handmade quilts, afghans, doilies, and blankets
  • Greeting cards
  • Dolls, dresses, furniture
  • Floral arrangements and wood items
