Michigan's newest fundraising license plate supports organ donation

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson and organ donation advocates visited Detroit's North American International Auto Show this month to promote the new Donate Life plate. The plate supports efforts to grow the number of Michigan residents who've said they're willing to give the gift of life.

Watch a cornea recipient talk about how donation allowed her to read to her children again and hear the story of a recipient of a new liver.

You can buy the plate at any Secretary of State office, online, through the mail, or when buying a vehicle at a participating auto dealership. It costs $35 in addition to the normal registration fee, and $10 each year when it's renewed.

If you're not signed up already, please take a few seconds to join the organ donor registry at www.michigan.gov/organdonation. Read more about the Donate Life plate here.

Mobile Office ready to serve customers at the Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Center

Detroit Boat Show

The Mobile Office will once again be available for all of your Secretary of State transactions at the Detroit Boat Show, Feb. 16-24 at the Cobo Center in Detroit. Come renew your watercraft registration, your license plate tabs or your driver’s license. Then check out the latest in fishing boats, ski boats, pontoons and personal watercraft.

The Detroit Boat Show is significantly larger than the last four years, moving to two halls and increasing the number of exhibitors and their displays.

"More boats means more boat types and brands for buyers to see and purchase at the show," said show manager Nicki Polan. "The show offers boats of all types and for all budgets: cruisers, fishing boats, runabouts, pontoons, ski boats, personal watercraft, yachts, and more for attendees to see and purchase.”
