 According to Pure Michigan Talent Connect, there are currently
more than 600 information technology job openings in the greater Lansing area. Without
qualified employees, today’s local economy won’t meet the necessary growth.
The Capital Area IT Council, Capital Area Michigan Works!,
Lansing Community College and other partners are working to provide an answer
to the IT sector’s talent shortage through a $4.4 million U.S. Department of
Labor grant.
Capital Area Tech Knowledge E-Pathways is a scholarship
program developed with the grant funds and designed to meet the talent demands
of the information technology industry in greater Lansing. The program targets
unemployed or underemployed candidates to engage in IT careers by providing
education, training and connections to hiring employers. These education and
training options prepare participants for high demand occupations such as
software testers/QA professionals, computer engineers, software developers and
more.
E-pathways is now recruiting for fall 2013 enrollment for
the following programs: computer programmer analyst (associate degree),
computer science (associate degree), and a one-year software testing
certificate.
