E-pathways program provides IT scholarships

Information technology

According to Pure Michigan Talent Connect, there are currently more than 600 information technology job openings in the greater Lansing area. Without qualified employees, today’s local economy won’t meet the necessary growth.

The Capital Area IT Council, Capital Area Michigan Works!, Lansing Community College and other partners are working to provide an answer to the IT sector’s talent shortage through a $4.4 million U.S. Department of Labor grant.

Capital Area Tech Knowledge E-Pathways is a scholarship program developed with the grant funds and designed to meet the talent demands of the information technology industry in greater Lansing. The program targets unemployed or underemployed candidates to engage in IT careers by providing education, training and connections to hiring employers. These education and training options prepare participants for high demand occupations such as software testers/QA professionals, computer engineers, software developers and more.

E-pathways is now recruiting for fall 2013 enrollment for the following programs: computer programmer analyst (associate degree), computer science (associate degree), and a one-year software testing certificate.

To learn more about participating as a job seeker or employer, visit www.epathways.org.
