Family Friendly Fishing Waters
Most avid anglers can list multiple places they think are great spots to go fishing in Michigan. But for many inexperienced anglers, finding a great spot can be a barrier to encouraging them to go. To address this issue, the DNR is working on a new project, Family Friendly Fishing Waters.

This project will consist of developing a website dedicated to connecting interested individuals with local fishing opportunities. To build this website the DNR needs help from volunteers in collecting informative submissions about water bodies located throughout Michigan that would be easy for new anglers to access and use.
These submissions can come from anyone – do you have a favorite spot you’d like to share? If so, please visit www.surveymonkey.com/s/FFFW and answer the provided questions. All submissions are being vetted by DNR staff to ensure they fit the necessary requirements to be considered a Family Friendly Fishing Water location.
Don’t have a favorite spot to share, but want to find places to fish in the future? Stay tuned as the DNR launches the Family Friendly Fishing Waters website in spring 2013. For more information, visit www.michigan.gov/fishing.
New and Improved Fishing Section of DNR’s Website
If you’ve visited www.michigan.gov/fishing lately, you may have noticed it’s looking a little bit different these days. That’s because the DNR’s Fisheries Division recently completed a website redesign, geared towards making it easier to navigate by visitors like you.
We hope you enjoy this new look and feel and find all the fishing information and resources you’ve come to expect!
