This weekend, the Michigan DNR is kicking off summer in a big way—at the Detroit River Days festival!

River Days is a celebration of Detroit’s culture with live concerts, tall ships, food and family fun! The DNR has joined the party with our Official Kickoff to Summer at Milliken State Park and Harbor.

Enjoy a taste of outdoor recreation with live animals, fishing and camping demonstrations, firefighting and conservation officer vehicles, archery, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and other recreation 101 activities.

As a special treat on Sunday, children are invited to decorate their bikes and participate in a bike parade, led by the Detroit Lion’s mascot, “Roary.” The lieutenant governor, Brian Calley, will MC the parade. Bikes will be decorated at 10:30, parade begins at 11:30, across from Milliken State Park on the Dequindre Cut.

The festival runs Friday through Sunday, June 22-24. For more details go to the Detroit River Days website or DNR's Official Kickoff to Summer website.

Invite your family and friends to get outdoors this weekend and experience the way Detroit and the DNR celebrate summer.
