SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE INCIDENT AT ABINGDON TARGET
HARFORD COUNTY, MD (March 24, 2016) -- At approximately 11:30 a.m. today, the State Fire Marshal's Office Bomb Squad responded to the Target store located at 403 Constant Friendship Boulevard in Abingdon for two suspicious suitcases left unattended in the parking lot. The Harford County Sheriff's Office arrived early during the investigation and viewed Arabic writing on a luggage tag affixed to the suitcases. They immediately established a safe perimeter, evacuated the store and requested the Bomb Squad.
Bomb Squad Technicians performed a variety of diagnostic procedures revealing no explosive components inside the suitcases. The contents of the suitcases were determined to be clothing items. The incident was cleared and the store was able to resume normal operations at approximately 4:00 p.m.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation to determine the owner(s) of the luggage.
