BALTIMORE, MD. (June 29, 2012)- Today, temperatures are expected to reach triple digits. In response, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake announced that Baltimore City Recreation and Parks’ Aquatics Division has extended pool operations by one hour today Friday, June 29. Park pools will open noon-8 p.m. and walk-to pools will open noon-6 p.m.
Additionally, the Code Red Heat Alert Schedule is in effect. Normal swim sessions (i.e., adult, family and lap swim sessions) will be suspended and pools will operate on two-hour open sessions with a 30-minute intermission. Hours are as follows:
Noon-2 p.m. 2:30-4:30 p.m. 5-6 p.m. at walk-to pools; 5-8 p.m. at park pools
All swimmers must exit the facility at the end of each two-hour swim session. At the end of intermission, swimmers must pay (or repay) the admission fee to enter the pool. This rotating schedule provides all swimmers an opportunity to enter the pools on days when attendance is high and gives staff the opportunity take breaks from the heat. Visitors should be patient, stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.
Admission to Baltimore City park pools is $1.50 per two-hour session and $1 per two-hour session for neighborhood walk-to pools.
