Adult Woman and Child Dies in Early Morning House Fire; One Child in Critical Condition


Wednesday, December 13, 2017 – (Baltimore, MD) – Just after 1:00 a.m., Baltimore City firefighters responded to the scene of a fire in the 700 block of E. Coldspring Lane in N. Baltimore. Upon arrival units had heavy smoke showing from the first and second floor of a 2-story occupied dwelling. 

There were three occupants inside the home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to rescue the occupants out of the home and transported them to area hospitals in cardiac arrest. A short time after being transported to the hospital, the adult female and a 4-year-old girl were pronounced dead. A 5-year-old girl remains in critical condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and the identities of the deceased have yet to be released. The cause of death will be determined by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

The fire was placed under control around 1:50 a.m.

So far this year, there have been 25 fire fatalities in Baltimore City.
