The 9th District office has partnered with the Louisville Asset Building Coalition to provide FREE tax preparation to anyone who earned $50,000 or less in Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) in 2011. We will be offering four tax preparation dates – Fridays February 3rd and 24th and March 2nd and 30th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at United Crescent Hill Ministries, located at 150 S. State Street. Call the office TODAY to make an appointment. You do not need to live in the 9th District to participate in FREE tax preparation!
If you typically like to prepare your own taxes there are FREE options available to you through the Louisville Asset Building Coalition.
a) If you make $31,000 of AGI or less, or qualify for the earned income tax credit, or served in active duty military with an AGI of $57,000 or less please click here. You will fill out a brief survey and then be redirected to the Turbo Tax Freedom FREE edition.
b) If you earned AGI of less than $57,000 please click here. You will fill out a brief survey and then be redirected to the H&R Block TaxCut FREE edition.
Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management has received a new shipment of large recycling carts, and is accepting sign up forms for the expanded recycling program for businesses and residents in the 9th District. For a one-time fee of $55 per cart, businesses and residents can receive a 95-gallon recycling cart, which will be collected once a week. Learn more. Nominees may include local celebrities, neighborhood volunteers, or anyone who helps makes Crescent Hill and Clifton a unique neighborhood. The Comfy Cow is joining Cellar Door Chocolates in hosting the 2nd Annual CHOCOpalooza. The annual event to benefit Make-A-Wish and Boy’s and Girl’s Haven will be held Saturday, February 11th between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. at the Frankfort Ave. location of The Comfy Cow. There will be 11 different and udderlyunique chocolate ice creams for your sampling pleasure as well as a variety of Cellar Door’s amazing Chocolate Truffles, fudge, peanut butter cups, and the like. Interactive ‘Chocolate Stations’ will be positioned throughout the store, such as a chocolate crepe station; a make your own chocolate cotton candy station; dip your own chocolate covered banana station; etc. There will be live music, magic acts, face painting, and door prizes. Monday, February 6: In honor of African American History Month, you are invited to join Congressman John Yarmuth of Kentucky's Third District for the 6th Annual Community Dialogue with African American Veterans from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the Kentucky Center for African American Hertitage, 1701 W Muhammad Ali Blvd. This event is an opportunity to have open dialogue on the issues of the day. Please bring your thoughts and concerns for this conversation with Congressman Yarmuth. Continental breakfast will be served. Tuesday, February 7: Clifton HP Guidelines Task Force meeting to review and make suggestions for revisions to the Clifton Historic Preservation Guidelines at 5:30 p.m. at United Crescent Hill Ministries (UCHM), located at 150 S State Street . All meetings are open to the public and public comment is invited and encouraged at each and every meeting. The agenda for 02/07 is door, siding and roof. Thursday, February 9: Clifton Center hosts Jud Hendrix for "The Clifton Fifty" at 2117 Payne Street. The evening begins at 5:00 p.m. with appetizers from Frankfort Avenue restaurants and a cash bar, followed by 50-minute conversation led by Jud. This event is free with a suggested donation of $5.00.
