Volunteer Events

LAST CHANCE for Volunteer Naturalist Training!
If you’ve always wanted to be a natural interpreter or informal teacher, now is the time to send your volunteer application for the Volunteer Naturalist class beginning in January.

JMF Naturalists are volunteer teachers who aid our education staff with school field trips and public programs by leading hikes, teaching nature classes and assisting with classes taught by staff. The 15-week Naturalist training course begins in January.  Attend classes on your choice of Monday or Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM till approximately noon.  Due to the extensive training involved for this group, volunteers have a 36 hour minimum annual volunteer time requirement.  After initial training, the volunteer checks the schedule of programs and signs up to assist based on their availability.  Weekend volunteers work primarily on Saturdays, with some evenings.

*Volunteers are subject to site manager approval, must complete a full application and submit to a state record check.
