In Memoriam: Darin Edwards
Every day our IHCDA team works on community development and
affordable housing issues across Indiana. One of the great things about working
for a state agency committed to uplifting Hoosiers is the inspiring people we
are surrounded with, and the personal and professional relationships that grow
out of our day- to-day work.
Today I’m sad to share that one of our faithful colleagues, Darin Edwards, passed away
late last week. Darin had a passion for community development and a long
history of working to ensure that all persons,
especially Hoosiers, had access to affordable housing. He saw
opportunity everywhere, serving as a trusted advisor and development expert
during his tenure at IHCDA and the City of Indianapolis, along with sharing his
talents in a variety of other volunteer leadership positions.
As a director in our Real Estate Department, Darin mentored staff and nurtured the professional development of numerous young colleagues as they embarked on public service or community development careers. Darin was known for his great sense of humor and always had the most amazing fun facts and historical references to share when we were on the road. He was often found cheering on his alma mater, Hanover College,
in his free time, or listening to sports radio when he worked late into the evening.
While we mourn our collective loss, we remember Darin’s
dedication and spirit as we continue our shared mission of promoting affordable
housing and opportunities for community growth. It is an honor for us to
continue his work and we are all better for having called him a teammate and a friend.
In sympathy and strength,
