IDEM and Members of the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust
Fund Committee to Host Public Meetings

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and members of the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee will host five public meetings around the state to provide information and gather input on Indiana's Beneficiary Mitigation Plan. 

Indiana’s Beneficiary Mitigation Plan will be based on clean diesel projects that can produce the greatest air quality benefit in terms of diesel emission reductions, with a particular focus on nitrogen oxide (NOx) emission reductions. Indiana also seeks innovative projects that will have lasting impacts on not only Indiana’s air quality, but its infrastructure and economy as well.

About the Committee
The Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee (Committee) was formed under an executive order issued by Gov. Eric Holcomb on Oct. 4, 2017. The Committee will play a vital role in the disbursement of Indiana’s share of funds from the Environmental Mitigation Trust created as part of Volkswagen's settlement of Clean Air Act violations regarding diesel emissions from their vehicles. Indiana will receive approximately $41 million under the terms of the consent decree.
